Mum is talking extremely loudly on the phone, but there is no one on the other end of the line. She just wants my dad, parked in front of the computer, surfing soccer websites, to hear what she has to say about the evils of gambling. I think she also wants to pretend she has someone to talk to- this Alan guy is funny, rich, and most importantly, he listens. Maybe I should try it sometime.
